Throughout the summer, the FIU College of Arts, Sciences & Education’s advancement team has been busy preparing for an exciting 2026 fall semester filled with memorable events for CASE donors and alumni. Leading these efforts is FIU alumnus Romy Robau, ’20, MS ‘21, the team’s new Donor Events Officer II.

Robau joins the CASE advancement team with more than seven years of experience in the events industry, specializing in event management, experiential marketing, and large-scale program execution. Throughout his career, he has worked across the nonprofit, hospitality, luxury retail, and special events sectors, managing projects ranging from intimate VIP experiences to major public events.

“I am excited to return to FIU and have the opportunity to create special events and unique experiences for our CASE community” said Robau.

Prior to joining FIU, Robau held roles supporting event planning and operations for organizations including Bal Harbour Shops and Mar-a-Lago, while also contributing to projects at the White House. His experience spans both domestic and international events, with work taking him to destinations across the United States and Europe.

A proud Miami native of Cuban heritage, Robau graduated from St. Brendan High School in 2016 before attending Florida International University, where he became a proud double Panther. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing in 2020, followed by a Master of Science in Hospitality Management with a specialization in Mega and Large-Scale Event Management in 2021.

This proud Panther is ready to hit the ground running. Below are some questions Robau answered that provide further insight into his vision and plans for FIU CASE events.

Q: What are you looking forward to the most about being back on campus?

I have so many great memories from when I was a student here at FIU. I was heavily involved in Homecoming planning through my fraternity, so I am thrilled to bring that same energy and creativity to CASE. I’m also looking forward to elevating CASE’s FIU Homecoming Roar Lounge presence and providing memorable experiences for our FIU football executive suite guests. Homecoming has always been one of my favorite traditions at FIU, and it’s exciting for me to now create those experiences for our donors and alumni instead of participating as a student.

Q: Is there an event that you are looking forward to this fall?

The FIU Pig Roast is the event I’m most excited about. Growing up in a Cuban household in Miami, pig roasts were always a big part of my culture. We even hosted them at my high school, so they became something I always associated with bringing people together. We didn’t have the Pig Roast event when I was a student at FIU, so I’m excited to experience it for the first time and help make it something special for our CASE community.

Q: Any special words that you would like to share with our CASE donors and alumni?

I want to help redefine what it means for our CASE community to come together. Anyone can host a special event or cocktail hour, but I want our events to feel different. Whether that’s through interactive activations, thoughtful design, or unexpected moments, my goal is to create experiences that engage all the senses and leave people feeling connected, not just to each other, but to CASE and FIU. I want people to walk away feeling like they were part of something meaningful and memorable, not just another event. Paws up! 🐾
